The CoPA is gone. *sad panda face*

Hey, I can't sleep yet again ! And I can't even blame the heat, it's been pouring most of the night. But Cthulhu only knows why, I went to bed at eleven, got out again at half past 2 and hadn't closed an eye. I actually didn't even feel tired. I'm brely starting to feel like yes, maybe sleeping could be an option... *rolls eyes*
At least I saved loads of pictures from the CoPA - only after I figured out the pattern diagrams were mostly missing for the years I'm most interested in right now. I have saved far too much huge sleeved 1890s and cute 1920s stuff up to now.
I have also worked on my drawing a little. It feels really really good, I hadn't realised I hadn't touched a pencil for so long - but the break was good, now I'm full of thematic and technical inspiration and bursting with ideas. I think I should be able to add new stuff to the Etsy shop rpetty soon and that feels really good ! Of course I still have some older stuff to scan and edit, but I just don't feel like it tonight - err this morning.

Not that I'm much of a pattern-using person myself, I tend to stick to period diagrams and draping a lot. But right now, I'm making a knock-off of my cushion slipcover pregnancy blouse (have to come up with a better name for it... although the one I'm making now ? Out of an old bedspread and matching slipcovers) for a pregnant friend and I had a little angel ask for the pattern as well. So while I'm making the blouse's second version, I'm taking note so as to make a proper pattern with instructions. And discovering that takes alot more time than just flying by the seat of my pants like I usually do. I have a whole tank of newly gained respect for all people that make patterns, it's not as simple as it sounds. Not really hard for this particular garment, but there are a lot of steps and you have to write it all down. But the process is quite interesting. And the blouse will look cute.

I hope the copyshop can reduce the pattern to a scannable and yet readable size for me tomorrow. So that I can add this to my website.

The silly kitty's skirt has been hemmed, yay ! As soon as I've gotten the rest of tonight's occupations out of the way, I'll jump right to draping the overskirt and bodice or polonaise. I'm not yet sure on which option I'll choose. I think I'll use some contrasting piping, though, just because I'm completely masochistic. Oh, and I've found some tiny snaps to close the whole thing (because there's a limit to my masochisticness, and sewing yet another series of miniature buttonholes is definitely beyond that). Yay for at least ONE shop in town being open *with employees* actually inside, so that you can, you know, actually BUY something from them. I'm not sure there *was* anyone working at Toto on my lunchbreak, there was definitely no one to help customers or just for them to pay in the whole fabric and sewing notions area... weird.

The above mentionned "rest of tonight's occupations" consists in copying a prettypretty promenade dress pattern - or rather the jacket's pattern from the suit, because the skirt is merely a diagramm, so that I can mail it to a very nice austrian lady to thank her for lending me the pattern for my wedding dress. A pattern I'm slowly getting excited to make, wheeeheee !

Aaaaaah !

I so want to make this dress from the pattern in this auction... Has anybody bought pattern from this seller ? How good are they ?

And I was indirectly remembeed by [livejournal.com profile] isiswardrobe yesterday that I'm still waiting for my 18th century embroirey techniques copy. Which I ordered on the 7th of May.... *grumbles*
