I so want to make this dress from the pattern in this auction... Has anybody bought pattern from this seller ? How good are they ?

And I was indirectly remembeed by [livejournal.com profile] isiswardrobe yesterday that I'm still waiting for my 18th century embroirey techniques copy. Which I ordered on the 7th of May.... *grumbles*

That dress is beautiful. The pattern looks very good too. I love the different options for the sleeves. I'm afraid I don't know much about ebay - but it looks like a good offer and the vendor seems to have had a lot of positive feedback.

I don't know anything about the seller, but have you worked with these kinds of patterns before? s/he didn't post a scan of the sheet, but if it's like the supplements from Harpers they can be a bitch to follow because, for example, all the options for the sleeve will be drawn on one piece, without scale indications. The drafting to scale isn't that difficult, but its a challenge to trace the patterning you want first.

Also, the instructions are typically rather spare: "Sew sleeve." "Attach skirt to breadth." (Which was an actual instruction on one pattern I tried. What the h*ll is a "breadth?")

I just bought a pattern from her, and the seller was wonderful! The pattern pieces are great once you trace them from the jumble (if you don't mind altering them a good bit if you aren't a small size), but the directions are pretty useless - even if do translate them from French. It's a pretty challanging way to work, but well worth it IMHO to get something really authentic.

LOL! I forgot you speak French. Nevermind about the translating part! ;)

I've worked with the jumble before - actually, I have a book full of turn of the century jumbled undergarment patterns. I still have to make insane amount of alterations to my TV bodice (arf). I think I may console myself for not going to Vaux with a pattern...
