I wasn't productive today

Not much sewing, lots of tea-drinking, websurfing, generally being a couch potato, and, in the evening, an amazing surge of energy led us to fixing the once again broken living room shutters, which led me to tidy up the living room a bit. The shelves I sanded two weeks ago haven't been put up yet, but I did make room for the classical CDs and got rid of the old (and sadly broken) NES.
Pictures taken just a few minutes ago, after daylight is long gone, so not the best ones.
I rearranged the entrance and landing strip quite some time ago. My parents brought us the wardrobe this summer. It's a family heirloom - actually, it's half a wardrobe, my grandparents had one half sawed off. The vases above it came when we emptied my Grandma's place. I need to do some paint job on the shoe shelves, and the small bank not pictured here - I want green to match the coat hooks we have.
This is what I tackled today, the living room's books and TV shelves. I put away a bunch of things I had collected over the years which I don't want to see displayed anymore, and have a few that I still want to display, just not there, waiting for a new place.

The shelves seem a little empty on top, that's where the new shelves will go. The chair is an old nursing chair from my Mom's family. The leopard print shoe is a money box that says "saving for shoes". :D There's also one full shelf of art books I inherited from my Grandma - yay for taking those out of the boxes they came in !

Another work in progress. I mean to add pictures of friends and family and hang them ABOVE the brick area, on the right of the fireplace, and not linne them up like that, eep ! I need to hunt some good wedding pictures form the other couples who married this summer... We also want to change the upper part of the fireplace, due to obvious stain - and for now, hanging something over said stain is in the works. The little cabinet was the one I mentioned previously that was made by my Grandma (she's the lady on the outmost right picture). I should put some candles on all those candle holders, too.

This is where is becomes obvious that we need to repaint the living-room. The mirror above the radiator was made by my Grandma, the blanket was made out of sample squares woven by my Grandpa. No wonder I got some crafty genes from this side of the family !
The house is really feeling homely now, and I feel like I'm starting to make it look *pretty*. It'll be even prettier when we'll have removed some ugly wallpapers - guestroom and kitchen, bathroom and staircase, I'm looking at you ! - and repainted the living room. But for now ? I'm very happy to live there, and I feel so blessed to have so much art given by friends and family to hang around me. Which reminds me, BTW, that I should take pictures of the kitchen clock (another of my Grandma's works), fidn a place for her mirrors, and put up her fashion drawings in the bedroom. Vacuuming would be good, too.
Okay, enough house babbling, back to your regular sewing content !
