What shall we eat ?

I apologize for the not so good quality and blurriness of some pics. I eliminated the worst ones and uploaded those because I liked them nonetheless.

Wandering through the Louvre )

There are some more pics here. The videos will be uploaded pretty soon and will be at the same place.

It was a truly fantastic day, talking costumes, walking around in pretty dresses and talking to the visitors. Most of the people in the museum were really nice and interested by what we were wearing - though I'm wondering how many of them went home thinking we were wearing some silly regional costume. We got labelled as ladies from Bretagne, and as Irish. Sorry folks, no, even though the three of us were wearing green, St Patrick's Day was on the day BEFORE *giggles*

Besides, it was the day for me to lose tickets and such. First my museum ticket slipped out of my muff without me noticing, making it impossible for us to leave the museum and come back in after that. Then, not only did both [livejournal.com profile] de_ravenne and I miss our trains, I also lost (maybe stolen, since I found my rucksack open in the metro and I'm almost sure I had closed it before...) my train reduction card. But I was able to change my ticket in the last minute and get a copy from my card, so everything went well and I finally came home. A bit late, but home at last.

My digicam did *not* behave yesterday. A lot of the pictures are blurry, and the ones I accidentally took with the flash look like we're in a cave. BUT... they're pretty nonetheless. You girls look absolutely stunning !

So, after some discussing, let's try to sum up (again, correct me if I'm wrong or if you prefer it some other way):
- pick up [livejournal.com profile] de_ravenne at the train station
- go together to [livejournal.com profile] heileen's place to change into our costume
- go to the Louvre
- take some pictures outside ? I'll boil if I have to keep my dolman and my muff inside the museum ;)

[livejournal.com profile] de_ravenne, do you know at what time you are arriving ?

And then, maybe we could plan something in Versailles for the beginning of June, since, [livejournal.com profile] demode_kvc will be there and Vaux-le-Vicomte does not sound that interesting anymore. What d'you think ?

Before I post this on [livejournal.com profile] european_cc and elsewhere, I'd like to settle on time and meeting point. As I said in a comment somewhere already, I got in touch with the Louvre, where the security guys said there would be o problem as long as we tell them where the metal bits are.
The Louvre opens at 9am, I'm tempted to vote for meeting under the pyramide at 10am in costume, so as to have some time to get dressed and not have to crawl out of bed to early in the morning. Then I'd say wander through the museum, take our time, after that maybe go eat something somewhere (in costume or not ? I'll probably be carrying my suitcase around with me all day anyway)...
I hope I'll have gotten my exemplaries of La Mode Illustrée so that I can show you something new ;)

How does that sound to you, [livejournal.com profile] heileen and [livejournal.com profile] de_ravenne ?

ETA : this is assuming [livejournal.com profile] de_ravenne is coming on saturday evening, I think you had said so at some point, let us know if it's not the case !

ETA2 : after a good night's sleep, I remembered the Louvre has a lot of room for us to change in, and I'm not sure taking the rER in costume is a good plan. That's for posting late at night after a gaming day...

Pinging [livejournal.com profile] heileen and [livejournal.com profile] de_ravenne here, but everyone rading this is welcome !

So first, the date :
I'll have a free week between the 7th ant the 14th of January. I'd prefer if we met before the 10th, but as nothign is settled yet, we could still choose the end of the week.

Second, the dress code :
I'm all for playing it loosely, esp. since it's our first time. The main idea is bustles, but I really have nothing against another 19th century era. [livejournal.com profile] heileen, I'd be delighted to see your turn-of-the-century ballgown or your "revolution" dress, depending on what you can get done.

Then, the programm :
Is everyone still ok for a museum ? I can't see how and where we could go and have a coffee/tea that would'nt cost us and arm and a leg.
We had suggested Orsay, since it's so obviously the right period. I also like the Musée Jacquemart-André and well, the Louvres, of course.
This is just some input, maybe there are better options I don't know of, not knowing Paris *that* good.

Okay guys, waiting for what you have to say !

Costumes in the making at green-martha's now :
- the Green Winter Bustle, also known as the Demeter dress
- the HG's victorian vest, which remains unnamed yet
- the Pillow Flower dress

Current state :
- The Demeter dress has been taken out of storage, put onto Karinga (my dress dummy) and taken back from said Karinga. great progress indeed !
- The HG has been measured, the pattern pieces have been found and transfered onto paper (don't want to cut into a pattern I'll probably be using for many of my male friends)
Both projects have been on my to-do list for months/years (the vest was originally intended for my ex, then for my sister's home geek...) and have to be done but..

... the Pillow Flower is soooo much more interesting !
Besides, I've had the fabric for this one (aka the flowery pillow fabric of Doom) for a looong time. Like... two years ? And I'm very proud to say that I haven't changed my mind one single time about what it's going to become ! And I now have the perfect occasion to wear it - and probably the Demeter dress, too. That being my poor justification to starting yet another project.

a long babble and a few pictures )

Good thing about the Pillow Flower ? I have allt he ingredients in stash, except the paint.
Bad thing ? I *know* I'll be calling the person who decided on the design all kinds of names while working on it. Oh wait, that was me....

I've been busy with ahem... vacations those last weeks, but I haven't forgotten about it, and since my to-do list for the LARP starts to shrink I'm planning ahead. I'll post this on [livejournal.com profile] european_cc as well, I figure a costume meet-up is always a good thing to start with.

So the basic idea, since neither [livejournal.com profile] heileen nor me couldn't get our bustles dresses made in time for last Christmas holiday, to meet in costume in Paris and wander in some costume-worthy place. I think to remember a possible plan we made with [livejournal.com profile] de_ravenne was the Musée d'Orsay, because, he, Bustles !

The idea was to met somewhere around december/Christmas. However, that may prove difficult for me, as december is a very busy period at work, and I'll probably be doing quite a bit of overtime and won't have any holiday except on the 25th of december and on the 1st of january. A bit earlier, or later, would be okay. (actually, later would give me mor etime to complete the dress and the matching visite and muff)

What do you all think ?
