At last !

So I was nice to the digicam and the digicam was nice to me, and thus, I have pictures to share !

The purple Lucioles mitts :

And the beginning of the Chaos Socks :

I'm working the cables according to my dice like in Knitty's Chaos sweater, though I have slightly modified it :
Roll a 1 or 2 : Slip next 2 sts to cable needle and hold to front of work, k2, k2 from cable needle.
Roll a 3 or 4 : Slip next 2 sts to cable needle and hold to back of work, k2, k2 from cable needle.
Roll a 5 or 6 : K2
I'm making little use of all the fancy dices I have in the house...
I'm about to start with the short row heels and am a bit scared. Although my mind has been working on this all night and made me dream of exactly how to work the short rows and wrap the thread. Hello mind, would you please turn off just a little bit now and then ?

But now that the flat is liveable again (i.e. clean, and all the Christmas stuff has been put away) I'm earnestly going back to sewing. I WILL finish this petticoat !

This is the second time you disappear just when I need you to take pics of the Lucioles mitts. It is getting kinda annoying, you know ? So get back to my desk NOW, will you ?

ETA1 : Now, that's a good digicam !

ETA2 : PLEASE DON'T DIIIIIIIE !

It feels strange to have had two days off, and to have so much less busy workdays. And now I actually have time and energy when I get home. I think I need to adjust back to normal life...
I also took advantage of the Home Geek being at home on vacation to let him do the cooking (in fact, he would not let me do it !) and concentrate on crafty things.

So I have :
- blocked the Lucioles mitts. I still need to take good pictures of them, and will wait for daylight to do so.
- finished sewing together and hemmed the mega-long bottom ruffle for petticoat #1. Now "all" I need to do is gathering the top part of the petticoat to test how it hangs and thus figure out how much of a train I have to include into middle ruffle.
- cast on and started knitting Tournesols, a bright yellow beta-pair of socks. On my new bamboo circular needles, using Knitty's magic cast-on for toe-up socks.
- discoverd a knitted Ravenclaw bag pattern that makes me want to learn fair isle.
- gone yarn hunting only to find otu Monoprix had resotcked on Rayure Double, only not in grey-brown. *pouts*
- enjoyed yet one more "hot chocolate on stick". Most genious Christmas prezzie EVAH. I'll share the recipe after I've made it myself.
Not necessarily in that order.

The Home Geek got some metal mind puzzles for Christmas. He's behind my back on the couch, not making any noise trying to sole one. And nw and then I hea this little "cling" noise of metal against metal and I think "huh ? He's KNITTING ?"

You can tell I've got a new addiction !
My mitts are coming along nicely, there's a hich chance they'll be done before I'm home tomorrow evening. In prevision of what I have bought yarn to make myself the Highland Stockings because I want to start knitting socks, working with cables, and I want something fun. And somehow, knitting isn't fun if it's not a little bit challenging.

Don't worry, I'm also very impatient to come back home so that I can go back to my petticoats ! Knitting is just so much more transportable...

I did it !

I completed my first mitt ! My first ever completed knitted garment with some shaping involved ! WOOt !

I have now started again from scratch on the fingerless mitts for the third time. Not counting when I ripped off some 20 rows or so because my increases looked like crap. On the plus side, I know master three different types of increases. It's so cold outside today I had to bribe myself to get the laundry hanging : one basket of wet laundry put on the line = three or four rows to get the blood circulating again in my fingers. And some surfing on Ravelry kept me motivated. Thanks so much folks for mentioning that site. Or not so much for making me add yet some more projects to my evergrowing list of SIWTM (Stuff I Want To Make).
Right now, I've got some motivation to bake, so I'll try to finish some more Plätzchen, then maybe I'll sew some more. Maybe. My energy levels are quite low right now, everything has been sucked away by work. And my next day off is Christmas day. My last one was last Sunday, and we had some friends staying over. Ouch. I think that explain the somewhat random babble you've just read and the lack of concrete update.
