Here I'm sitting at my computer, gaping at the shipping costs for two miserable rubber blockx for engraving... And what does he suggest ? "You'd better order something else with it, at that price..."
Guess who has a few Frances Grimble books on their way to her, now ?
The blocks had better be worth the fuss, though...
Cats and birds and me
This is the last bit of engraving I did, BTW, just drypoint and sanding paper on unpolished offset zinc.

Oh yeah, I'm knitting again. It must be something about the season - last year around this time I cast on the 1873 sparkly scarf - which has been done and worn for months now, but which I still didn't get to photograph (don't hit me [livejournal.com profile] heileen ! I did try and then my digicam pretended it was dead !*). Now this year I've been on a mitten craze, obviously. I've just finished the pair for my sister-in-law, just need to take pictures, upload them, wrap the mitts and put them under the tree.

Choco-menthe

Now I just want to start a new something to knit, since it seems like a really Heimlich-compatible activity, as opposed to sewing. I have some yarn of course, but nothing suitable for the project I had in mind (actually I do have a nice mohair yarn, but I already have a knit tunic-dress-thingy in that exact same color). Buuuuut... I did find a niiiiiice place to get cheaaaaap yarn from... Check it out in Euros (complete with auto-translation, *giggles*) ! And in Dollars ! Saw good comments on the Ravelry forums about them, and well, I'm really tempted. Of course, that would mean I'd need to start another project to keep me waiting until the yarn arrives...

*We want to order a DSLR, but we hope there might be some % off after Christmas...

I was NOT looking for it, I promise, I was just checking how far in Google search my website was when one went looking for La Mode Illustrée (bottom of the second page, BTW). Then I stumbled upon something like this. Except not those years, as I already have most of them. But I'm ure it's not the case for ALL of you, right ? *evil grin*
*makes note* : don't look on eBay only....

I guess I'm officially officially pregnant. The social security (national health insurance) sent me the confirmation that they got my pregnancy papers.
And then I bought two pair of maternity pants - because of all the ones I have, only two are still wide enough and not too worn off to be wearable to work, and I suspect one might get too tight anyday now. The other was one or two sizes too big, so it might hold a little longer. Most skirts won't be comfortable much longer either, in fact I had a big sigh of relief when I switched from my flower hippie skirt today into the maternity jeans.
I also bought a maternity t-shirt - quite cute, without "rock'n roll mother" or my due date or anything of the like written on it, don't worry [livejournal.com profile] justmiaou ! So now I have a pattern I can easily duplicate. Reverse engineering rulez !
Yes, I'm trying to justify the $$$$ I spent on those three items. The shop I went to is rather upscale, but judging from the cut of the pants, I can't complain. Methinks I looked quite spiffy in the jeans and black t-shirt today. Except for the glitter that did not quite want to stay *just* on the t-shirt. *ducks and run from the above-mentioned lady*
Okay, of to work. If I want a new t-shirt for tomorrow, I'd better make it !

OMG we got the new printer today. And it's HUGE ! This thing weights over 30 kilos and it's a giant 80*80*50 centimeters box. The HG is playing away with it right now, and we have no idea where it'll reside int he long run. Probably under our desks.

I figured I deserved a treat... I know, pricey... but it's got colour pictures ! And it's from 1899 and I'm currently obsessing about the very end of the 1890s. Yeeeha ! Mine !

Lookie !

The cover is in a really sad condition, but look at that starting price !
