Yes, all my pictures are down. My site has been down now and then all week and now it's just... mostly dead. The server died. Oh wait, it's not really dead-dead. We were able to restore it. The wrong way around. So instead of copying the 2010 version on both discs, it copied the 2007 one. Yup, 2007. Anything posterior is gone. Scans, research work, wikis, pictures,it's all gone. Wedding pictures, the birth of our son, everything on my site from the last three years, the supersekrit project, it's all dead. Some things can be remade. Some pictures have been saved or printed by friends. The rest isn't replacable.
I'm just speechless.

I've found some little stuff, and my parents have copies of a few photographs. It's not much, but it's not entirely gone...

As a very strange coincidence, I was talking about the pregnancy corset you did yesterday. A friend just found out she is pregnant and wanted to see pictures of how you did yours to give her some idea about how she might make it work. If you ever manage to get those images back up (or future images maybe?) can you please let me know so that I can tell her where to look? Obviously, this is low priority and of no importance whatsoever given how valuable some of your images are (like pictures of your adorable baby!).

OOOOOOHH NOOOOOOO!! That's terrible. I'm so sorry. I had something similar happen with a hard-drive crash once, so now I upload all my photos to flickr as a safety precaution.

I'm going to do that now as well. I'm really pissed becuse we were supposed to have a back-up inside the server, but the bad data was written over the good one. so much for safety ! And since I thought it was so safe, I didn't make a back-up on my own computer - which is, of course, fine.

We found some bits and bobs... it's mainly the work that's killing me. retaking pictures, rescannign others... oy !

It's a good way to measure how muc work I already put into my website, I guess... by measuring how long it takes to get it all back up ! *irony inside*
