... with yet another very GREEN! mock-up. Don't worry, it's only the mock-up ! I solemnly swear no piece of the GREEN! fabric will be used on the actual dress. (please ignore the doll-sized armhole, I'm just working on the skirt portion for now !)

I'm not 100% happy about it. I think I need to sit on it a little. Any thoughts, LJ-brain trust ?

ETA : I think I have too much fabric at the side on both the front and side back piece, and not enough fabric at the CB and CF. Does that sound right ?

That's the beauty of mock-ups, you can keep looking and thinking and suddenly *ping* you see just where you've gone wrong! Not that this looks wrong mind you - from what I can see in the photos, it's a great shape and drape :-) What material will the finished item be in?

Thank you for the nice comment ! It will be made out of the same fabric as the underskirt (the pieces are just pinned on the dummy now, not even sewn together). The fabric is actually green with tiny yellow flowers and checks. And given I'll be out of fabric for trimmings, I'll use a matching yellow something... I think.

Here's hoping I have enough fabric to finish it or I can get more...

I'm working on a 1870's polonaise as we speak, using the Truly Victorian pattern. It looks good to me so far. Is there something specific you're not happy with?

There's something that's just not exactly right but I can't poitn out what. As Heileen suggested, it might be not enough fabric at the center back (the box pleat in the skirt should be bigger). It just doesn't look as pretty as the fashion illustrations I'm trying to copy
Looking at it and at the TV one again, I think the front point is totally in teh wrong place.

Call me crazy, but I like the green! Love the draped, very elegant!

Thank you for the not-crazy part ! :)
