It's working ! It's working !

Thank you SO MUCH for all your comments on my last post, it really really helped a lot. [livejournal.com profile] jehanni, I'll probably follow your lead about the petticoat and fake chemise. I don't expect anyone at my wedding to check my undies for authenticity, right ? And I'm not in a hurry... yet.

Anyway, this is really amazing : mock-up #2 WORKED ! I'm shocked. I can't recall the last time I made something and had it work in less than three mock-ups. Ok, I lied. the 1920's bra did. But hey ! I did this in two evening's worth of work ! And we had company tonight ([livejournal.com profile] lady_darkstone and her husband), meaning less productivity. I'm so happy I'm going straight to the next step : cutting out the other layers.

OMG, I almost forgot : pictures !

A really crappy one of the thing in all its glory. We really need to do something about the lighting in the purple room. Dark wallpaper combined with too small fixture is Ivol (tm).

Gussets ! Ugly gussets !
Right now, it's ugly, and made from scraps of fabric. And I don't care at all, as it WORKS !

Congratulations!
What did you change to get it working?

On the first mock-up, I marked where the bottom of my breasts were. Then on the second mock-up I made the gussets go til there, and moved them to the sides, too, so that they were at the exact lowest part of my breasts. I cut out a size 8 instead of size 12 (mock-up #1 seemed ok on the size only because the space was filled bith my squished boobs), but I kept the straps in size 12, as I'm pretty long in the torso and I know my breasts are lower than most women's. I only had to make them narrower in the front - the side gusset ended up almost in the middle of where the strap originally was. Mmmh, I'm not sure that's very clear, my brain is all fuzzy from the workday.
