School begin and slow sewing
Sep. 11th, 2005 10:00 amHaven't gotten much done last week. I've been sick for half of it, which is not good while beginning to teach. But the kids are rather nice, so I've lived through it.
Costuming-wise I have done nearly nothing, apart ripping two seams apart. I need to redo the waistband on my bustle - I tried pleating (instead of gathering, missa does not likes gathering) the "skirt" part to the waistband as said in the instructions and I find it makes the bustle look and hang all funny. So I'm redoing that. As for the last skirt I made - it had too many pleats in the back and as the fabric is rather heavy it made the skirt hang deeper (about 3 inches) in the back than in the front. I'll leave the center front as it is but will put more pleats on the side, that should do the trick.
So that's y program for today - not too ambitious but consider I have work for the school to do and friends to visit at some point of the afternoon. If I find the time I may work on my brother's shirt, too.
