As promised, an illustrated post

First thing, the shirt got done, and modelled by the Home Geek with Tricorn.

Some detailed shots : neck and heartpiece, neck gusset, cuff, underarm gusset with smile.

I adapted the pattern from Costume Close-Up and a little from http://marquise.de . The fabric is a lightweight linen I used for my bustle petticoat.

Then, the almost finished waistcoat fr my brother, poorly modelled by Nick.

The pattern.

The pieces on the matching pirate shirt and on Nick.

Look ! A pocket ! Not perfect, but still, a pocket !

The almost done waistcoat on Nick again.
I still have to close one seam by hand on the inside, and add closures. And that's it. Not bad considering I only started taking the second mock-up apart and cutting it out this morning.
The pattern is from Costume Close-Up as well (Amazon doesn't want to deliver Cut of Men's clothes until the end of the month, grrrrr), but I went back to the Laughing Moon Victorian frock instructions for the construction. Love that pattern.

That's it for tonight, I'm done.

Great job! Your neck gussets are so neat! Mine always come out lopsided and funky looking. I hate neck gussets!

The other neck gusset is not that neat either... Other than that... time, ironing, pinning, and some handsewing. On a second thought I think of another way I should have put it on which would have looked better... oh well, next time.

Yeah, the fabric is great. I bought some in red, grey and pearl. And I have enough for MANY waistcoats. *big grin*
