I've officially become an Ikea-hater

I used to be a big fan of them, esp. of all their dishes, cutlery and cooking devices. And fabric. And then they started closing and reducing fabric sections. I got angry and bought the last interesting bolts in Vitrolles, before their fabric department closed. Saint Priest has no more fabric either. Those two being the closest to my home until last month.
When I saw the new Ikea right here had a fabric section, I was all ready to forgive them. Then I went tonce to look for some Aina linen. No such thing yet in store, because they hadn't recieved everything. But they told me they'd get the linen some time over the next weeks. So, my work schedule being not that shopping-friendly, and with my parents comign to visit inbetween, I waited a month, and then got back. I thought thay had had plenty of time to get the damn linen.
Except no, they don't carry it. They only carry it in the shops around Paris (MAYBE !).And the rest of their fabrics ? Apart from Bomull (because it's cheap), everything is ugly 70s prints. Just yuck. Not a single rococo flower in sight.
So now I'm bithing and sharing my crankiness online.
It looks like I'll buy the expensive one after all *hear my wallet cry*
And now I'm gonna cook milkrice and have two bahn baos for lunch, or I'll just die from the frustration.

on 2007-11-21 03:02 pm (UTC)I still dig Ikea, but I avoid anything that's fabric related there this season. I really hate the look of it. OK, so they went very folkloral and historica for the last seasons (I loved that), and they can't go onw itht hat forever.... but something in between, maybe? Not everybody loves geometrical patterns in bright primary colours, you know....
