The padded hem saga

So I'm done with the hem. And it was loooong. I'm working from the bottom up and will adjust the lenght when attachign the skirt to the bodice. It will make attaching the appliqués lots easier.
So, the hem.

First, mark a line with soap, on the outside of the dress,a bout 4cm above the fabric edge.

Then cut a 10cm wide strip of contrasting silk, sew it on the line, and fold it down, so that its edge is hidden under it and the strip covers the bottom of the dress.

Then take polyfill and encase a regular, about an inch (or a little less) wide strip of the stuff into the contrasting silk. Pin the stirp of silk inside the dress on the seamline. Whipstitch the padded hem closed.

Tadaaaa !

Next onto the list : piping and appliqués
