About the icon, after being insulted four or five times over the past three days in lieu of a reasonable discussion, this is the only appropriate answer I have. *shrugs*

First, having BOTH candidates for the second row of presidential elections try to appeal to the xenophobic, reactionary far right by saying "oh yes, actually we think along the same lines" is more than a little disturbing. What the frack ? I know the Leader Minimo and his pals totally ARE on the same page as the far right on a lot of topics*, but I thought better of the socialists. Or at least, of some of them.

*Just for the record, he's been re-actualizing things we haven't heard for the last 70 years and making constant references to our dear old P├ętain - since years, but in full force since Sunday. Classy.

Then, I've been barfed onto three times today, I had to keep the kids quiet for two hours because we had an appointment with an ophthalmologist and the only time we could get one was during nap time, so we survived without nap in a very not kid-friendly zone. Add one hour in the car (where only the younger one slept, for, like, fifteen minutes). I'm one tired maman. But I won't let that put me down, because I have awesome friends, because the kids didn't explode in flight despite the lack of nap, and because I was really good today and finally took pictures of the maternity corset ! Which implies I almost have a working photography setting !!!!
IMG_6286I have the pictures, they're on my site, but have yet to be made accessible, and that involves working with galleries and editing, and I've already made one dumb mistake tonight, so I figure it's a Bad Idea(tm) to try that now. You'll have to wait a little longer !
This is something else entirely - wedding dress sample ! I've found a way to make it work, it's going to be awesome ! I have other lengths of sparkly embroidered net in different colors and patterns, I'm not sure I'll have the willpower to avoid turning one into an early teens evening gown.

This seem to be the "let's move over to Blogspot"-day. Wow ! I'm a little... I don't know, weird about this I guess. I had started a blog over there when I tried to launch my Etsy shop. It proved hard to maintain two blogs, the Etsy shop was kind of a bust, and in the end, it didn't feel like home over there. So I decided to just let the blog die. Now with so many of you hopping over to the other side of the fence, I'm starting to reconsider. I do like the way Blogger makes it easy to format posts. I don't, however, like the way the reading list looks - but then I'm trying to embed a feed aggregator into my new website, so that might make reading more easy - I don't really find Google Reader that comfortable to use either, for the record.
I don't know. Don't know - if I ever make the move - whether or not I should reactivate the old blogger thing, or just start fresh. There are a lot of printmaking artists on Blogger as well, yet another bonus. But it just doesn't feel... homey.
I'm obviously putting much more thought into this than necessary, being as tired as I am tonight doesn't help the thinking. Tired, aching, to be honest, I can barely walk. Frack you, ligaments ! I stayed home instead of going to the printmakign workshop, it was probably best, I might have fallen asleep into the acid tank.

In addition to the projects already in the works (quilted ensemble and pirate justeaucorps, and a few modern items to spice it up), I have some bigger projects lined up as well. I'm working with Lady Darkstone on a very theatrical/fairy-talish/roroesque concept that's a ton of fun for an illustration project. We were supposed to go fabric hunting today but her car died yesterday, so she's stuck at home until it gets running again.
I did go fabric hunting on my own, though, well, actually I meant to go hunting for lace and trim. I did pick up some fake flowers, but nothing striked my fancy in terms of lace. I bought some very glittery fabrics, though, heavily embroidered with sequins and metallic thread tulle, some correct satin lining, and velvets. The guy seriously had piiiiiiles of non-crushed velvet ! It has becoming a rarity here ! I only picked fabrics for three dresses. I want to make some sample dresses as a sewing and design exercise, and I'm thinking about using one set of fabrics for an evening edwardian gown for myself... I'm off to dream about it right now !
